Oil portraits

Human beings, the principal subject of my painting and drawing, have compelled my interest for as long as I can remember. I have painted people of all ages and many different nationalities.

I am fascinated by the depth of information, as well as the mystery, that can be encoded in a single portrait. I think that the painted portrait — often the result of hours of concentration and years of practice involving a reciprocal relationship between artist and subject — has a quality of existence quite unlike that of a photograph.
