I
became interested in painting birds a few years ago when I moved to Gloucester
Massachusetts and stated noticing the annual migrations and nestings that
took place outside. I'm especially fond
of the smaller birds such as Chickadees and house finches but also attracted
by the comical self-importance of domestic geese.
The technical difficulties I've experienced conveying both the internal structure and the outer feather-clad forms of birds has been extremely challenging and utterly different from the problems I've encountered in painting other live creatures.
